2024.04.09 The Ministry of Science and Technology's national key R & D plan project launch meeting and implementation plan demonstration were successfully held

On April 9, 2024, the Ministry of Science and Technology's national key R & D program "Frontier Biotechnology" key special project (2023YFC3402100) led by Sichuan University and chaired by Professor Huang Canhua of our office was successfully held in the National Key Laboratory of Biotherapy of Sichuan University. The research team consists of Sichuan University, the Third Military Medical University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, Sun Yat-sen University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University and other units.

The meeting invited leaders and experts from different universities and scientific research institutions. Among them, Tian Jinqiang, Director of the Life Science and Frontier Technology Department of the China Biotechnology Development Center, Zhou Xuebing, a second-level researcher of the Social Development Department of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and Liu Chao, Vice President of Sichuan University, the project unit, attended the meeting and delivered important speeches.

Professor Wei Yuquan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and West China Hospital of Sichuan University, served as the project expert team leader, and Professor Peng Xiaozhong (National Jieqing) of the Institute of Basic Medicine of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Professor Ning Yunshan of Southern Medical University served as project tracking experts. The project expert team includes Professor Pan Jingxuan of Sun Yat-sen University (National Jieqing/Changjiang Scholar), Professor Zhang Hongquan of Peking University (Deputy Dean of Peking University International Cancer Institute) and Professor Zhang Zhiren of Harbin Medical University (Longjiang Scholar) and many other well-known scholars in the industry. These experts have profound academic attainments and rich practical experience in related fields. They put forward different opinions on the project implementation plan from their respective perspectives, providing strong support for the smooth implementation of the project.

Professor Huang Canhua of Sichuan University (National Jieqing/Changjiang Scholar) served as the chief scientist of the project and the person in charge of the first project. Professor Wang Bin of the Third Military Medical University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (National Youqing), Professor Ju Huaiqiang of Sun Yat-sen University (National Youqing), and Professor Xu Chuan of the University of Electronic Science and Technology (specially appointed by Tianfu Emei) served as the leaders of the second, third and fourth projects respectively. They reported the existing research foundation and implementation plan of the project to the experts at the conference, and conducted in-depth academic discussions with the participating experts on related issues.

The convening of this meeting not only provided strong guidance for the implementation of key special projects of "cutting-edge biotechnology", but also injected new impetus into the innovative development of biotechnology in our country. The experts at the meeting had in-depth discussions on the project implementation plan from different perspectives, and comprehensively sorted out and demonstrated the goals, tasks and technical routes of the project, laying a solid foundation for the smooth implementation of the project.

In the future, this special project will be dedicated to promoting the research and development and application of cutting-edge biotechnology, providing strong support for the rapid development of our country's biotechnology industry. We look forward to the joint efforts of leaders and experts, the project can achieve more innovative results and make greater contributions to the development of our country's biotechnology field.
