2021.10.14 Zhihan Wang Research Assistant Review Published in Seminars in Cancer Biology. On October 14, 2021, Assistant Researcher Wang Zhihan published a review article entitled "Dynamic impact of virome on colitis and colorectal cancer: Immunity, inflammation, prevention and treatment" in the journal Seminars in Cancer Biology, a well-known international oncology journal. Enteroviruses are closely related to intestinal immunity and diseases (e.g. inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer), but the mechanisms underlying the association between the two are still not fully understood. In this review, we summarize and discuss recent studies on the impact of enteroviruses (symbiotic viruses, pathogenic viruses, and bacteriophages) on the occurrence, progression, and complications of colitis and colorectal cancer, the interactions between enteroviruses and other microorganisms, and the underlying mechanisms of action. Clinical trials of phage therapy and oncolytic virus therapy, related bioinformatics tools, major challenges facing the field, and future research directions are explored. Due to the limited research on the role of enteroviruses in intestinal inflammation and tumors, this review contributes to a better understanding of the etiology, disease progression, and treatment.
